MK Guide Recommends

Founded in 1969 by the third-generation owner, Unatou Nakagawa stands in a quiet corner of Nakagawa Ward, inviting diners into a space where time slows. A central garden courtyard breathes life into the wood-accented interior, which offers both counter seats and tatami-equipped private rooms. Eels—sourced daily—are grilled to a signature crisp on the outside, soft within, brushed with a subtly sweet tare that has been steeped and added to continuously for over five decades. Lunch draws locals with unadon and hitsumabushi, while evenings see celebrations marked with premium eel boxes. The mood is both comforting and ceremonial, making it ideal for everything from casual meals to business dinners.
