MK Guide Recommends
Hyogo Prefectural Maiko Park stretches along the shore of the Akashi Strait, directly beneath the awe-inspiring Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, offering front-row views of one of the world’s greatest feats of engineering. But beyond the bridge, Maiko Park also preserves elegant Meiji-era architecture like the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Former Residence of Sanji Muto, weaving together modern infrastructure with historic refinement. Palm trees, tide-slicked rocks, and wide boardwalks make it a favorite for seaside strolls and slow travel. Bridge-themed exhibitions, an observation floor inside the anchor pier, and local seafood stalls round out the experience. On clear days, Awaji Island glows just across the channel.
