MK Guide Recommends

Nestled on the 28th floor of the Waldorf Astoria Osaka, Canes & Tales is a 47-seat cocktail bar that transports guests to the glamour of the 1930s Jazz Age. Accessed through a dimly lit corridor marked by a symbolic gold ampersand, the bar pays homage to Manhattan's speakeasy culture and the Waldorf Astoria's legacy. The debut menu draws inspiration from F. Scott Fitzgerald's Tales of the Jazz Age, with each of the 11 short stories reimagined as a unique cocktail. Highlights include "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," allowing guests to choose the "age" of their whisky, blending fig-infused sherry, vermouth, Bénédictine, and bitters. The food menu complements the drinks with offerings like Coney Island Hot Dogs, Reuben Sliders, bourbon-glazed fried chicken, Japanese oysters prepared three ways, and a selection of caviar served with traditional or modern accompaniments. Desserts such as New York cheesecake and "S’mores Our Way" provide a sweet finish. The bar operates on a walk-in basis, with guests encouraged to call ahead to check availability.
