MK Guide Recommends

Inaugurated in 1964, St. Mary's Cathedral replaced the original 1899 Gothic-style wooden church that was destroyed during World War II. Kenzo Tange's design features a unique layout where eight hyperbolic parabolas converge to form a cross of light, extending vertically along the facades. The 61.6-meter-high independent bell tower complements the main structure's stainless steel cladding, creating a harmonious blend of form and function. Inside, the cathedral offers a serene atmosphere with its soaring ceilings and minimalist design, inviting both worshippers and architecture enthusiasts to experience its tranquil ambiance.
