MK Guide Recommends

Tucked between office buildings and quiet streets in Chiyoda’s Fujimi district, Gyozanomise Okei has been serving its famously juicy dumplings since 1954. The name translates to “The King’s Gyoza Shop,” and while the decor remains humble, the flavor lives up to the title. Each gyoza is stuffed with a house blend of pork and cabbage, wrapped in a hand-rolled skin, and fried crisp-side down before being steamed to finish. The menu is simple—gyoza, rice, soup, and a few side dishes—but this clarity is part of the charm. Beloved by regulars, Okei is a piece of old Tokyo that remains refreshingly unpolished in the best way.
