Yabusame Shinji
Japan's traditional horseback archery, is one of the most amazing Japanese sports. Held in the long arcade that runs through the middle of the beautiful Tadasu-no-mori forest at Shimogamo-jinja Shrine, this event allows you to get really close to the horses and riders as they thunder past the targets, unleashing arrows as they go. If you are in Kyoto at this time it is a must-visit.
