MK Guide Recommends

Suzukien Asakusa is no ordinary gelato shop—it’s a matcha institution. Operated in collaboration with famed tea purveyor Nanaya, this humble storefront offers seven levels of matcha gelato intensity, culminating in a deep, umami-rich No. 7 made with the highest-grade green tea powder. The gelato is crafted fresh daily and balanced with milk to draw out the natural bitterness and complexity of the tea. In addition to soft-serve and seasonal specials, Suzukien sells loose-leaf teas, traditional Japanese sweets, and gifts. Located just off the main shopping streets of Asakusa, it’s an ideal post-temple stop for dessert that doubles as a tea education.
