Established in 1950 by the 16th head of the Hosokawa family, Moritatsu Hosokawa, the Eisei Bunko Museum preserves and exhibits the cultural heritage amassed by the Hosokawa clan over centuries. The collection includes over 6,000 artworks and approximately 88,000 historical documents, featuring eight National Treasures and 35 Important Cultural Properties. Visitors can explore a diverse range of artifacts, from samurai armor and weaponry to classical literature and tea ceremony utensils. The museum is situated on the former estate of the Hosokawa family, adjacent to the Higo-Hosokawa Garden, providing a serene environment that reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics.
