MK Guide Recommends

Fushimi Inari Taisha, dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity, is one of Kyoto's most iconic landmarks. Established in 711 AD, the shrine is best known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that create a stunning path through the forested slopes of Mount Inari. Visitors can explore the main shrine buildings, including the impressive Romon Gate, and hike the scenic trails lined with smaller shrines and fox statues, considered the messengers of Inari. The entire hike to the summit and back takes about 2-3 hours, offering breathtaking views of Kyoto along the way. The shrine is open 24 hours, allowing visitors to experience its serene beauty at any time of day.
