MK Guide Recommends

Rising like a gleaming sail against Kobe’s waterfront skyline, the Kobe Maritime Museum is both an architectural icon and a cultural anchor in Meriken Park. Opened in 1987 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the Port of Kobe, the museum showcases the city’s shipbuilding history, modern maritime technology, and international trade connections. Interactive exhibits, historical models, and full-scale ship parts tell the story of Kobe as Japan’s window to the world. The museum also houses the Kawasaki Good Times World, where visitors can explore the history of Kawasaki Heavy Industries—from motorcycles and bullet trains to submarines and aircraft. A must for families, engineering fans, and anyone drawn to the sea.
