Awaji Yumebutai is a harmonious blend of architecture and nature, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando as both a memorial and a symbol of renewal. Built on a former hillside quarry harmed by development, the complex now thrives with new life. Its most notable feature, the "Hyakudanen" or "100 Stepped Garden," displays 100 flower beds arranged in a terraced grid, each filled with seasonal blooms. The entire structure cascades down the slope like a living sculpture, reflecting the sky and sea. Visitors can walk along peaceful paths, look across Osaka Bay from observation decks, and reflect on the contrast between raw concrete and organic beauty. The site also includes an international conference center, resort hotel, and greenhouse, making it both a symbol of restoration and a place for quiet inspiration.
